Propolis is a resinous substance collected by honeybees from tree sap flows, buds and other botanical sources. In the hive it is used to seal gaps, prevent the putrefaction of waste and to inhibit fungal and bacterial growth. When used in ointments it fights and heals infections and wounds, treats skin injuries, and operates as a natural antiseptic. It is also known for its effectiveness at healing burns, scalds, and ulcers of the skin.
